The case is gold plated and was made in England by the Dennison Watch Case Company. The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. State, or Stayte, was one of the brand names used by the company. Their excellent reputation for quality meant that by 1910, Tavannes / Cyma were one of the largest Swiss watch manufacturers in existence. Sandoz used the most modern of manufacturing processes and produced very high quality time-pieces, trademarked as Tavannes, Cyma and Cyma Tavannes. The Cyma name was officially registered in 1903. In 1892 they decided to go into partnership with Frédéric Henri Sandoz, owner of Henri Sandoz et Cie. The movement is signed and it also has a US patent date of which relates to a patent in the name of Sandoz.Ĭyma was founded by two brothers, Joseph and Theodore Schwob, in 1862.
